Another U-Turn by the Government and KESK Threatens with Strike

PM Erdogan and Governor Hüseying Avni Mutlu have once again changed direction and after announcing that Gezi Park will be cleared within 24 hours they now agree to talk with actual representatives of the protesters (and not, like yesterday, with a bunch of relatively unrelated people, some of whom were supporters of the AKP and most of whom haven't even been to Gezi Park). Governor Mutlu tweeted that he would be open to meet anybode in a Cafe in Dolmabahce and he also tweeted his phone number. http://t24.com.tr/haber/vali-mutludan-direniscilere-randevu-kafede-goruselim/231961 After what happened the last time when they proposed talks (a massive attack on Taksim and Gezi Park) it is unclear who will still trust them.

In the meantime the left union KESK (Confederation of Public Workers' Unions) announced that it would call for a general strike if Gezi Park was to be attacked. http://www.kesk.org.tr/content/gezi-park%C4%B1na-sald%C4%B1r%C4%B1ya-cevab%C4%B1m%C4%B1z-i%C5%9Fyerlerinden-ba%C5%9Flayarak-topyek%C3%BCn-direni%C5%9F-olacakt%C4%B1r
